Volunteer
In addition to our Executive Board, we need volunteers to serve in a variety of roles. We are always in need of volunteers to help out at our youth camp each summer, fill in at our concessions stand at home soccer games, and serve on our various committees.
Our 2024 Committee Chairs and Position Descriptions
Banquet - Michelle Wadley, Cheryl Cook & DeAnna Oakes
These people oversee the committee that plans and coordinates end of the season banquet.
Committee duties include registration, senior gifts, video presentation, food selection, pictures, recognition certificates, and other items.
Meet the Team- August (typically a week before first game of the season) - Marci Tomajko, Michelle Enrique, and Lindsay McKinnon
This person(s) will coordinate set-up, communicate which grade level will provide what food from each grade, speaking agenda, tables, volunteers, spirit wear sale area, etc.
Each player is asked to bring a donation of a beverage (Coke product) to stock concession stand.
Spirit Wear and Team Bags (Year Round) - Ben Cook
This person(s) coordinates all aspects of spirit wear for Hoover Soccer including ordering and sales.
Youth Camp Shirts for summer youth camp.
Summer league t-shirts (picked or seniors of each team).
Works with Senior Rep from Boys and Girls for warm-ups. Warm-ups to be passed out after August 1, as close to first scrimmage/game as possible.
Youth Camp (April - June) - Lauren Connors, Marci Tomajko, Heather Ash, Lindsay McKinnon
Dates to be set by Coaches in April of each year.
Registration emails and form need to be sent to North Canton City Schools, posted on Schoology and Hoover Soccer Booster Facebook Page.
Coordinate on-site Check-In table, organization and distribution of camp shirts, handle walk-up registrations.
Concession Stand (August - November) - Michelle Enrique, Drew Cook, Lucas Cook
This person(s) will coordinate the set-up, sales and tear down of the concession stand before each home game.
A Sign Up Genius will be set up for parents to sign up for games (each parent is asked to sign up for at least one game).
Players not having a game that day will also have the option to volunteer to collect community service hours.
Car Wash Fundraiser (June - August) - Mike Connors, Brandi Heffelfinger, Scott Zelesnik
This person(s) will coordinate the location of the event.
Will make or have made the tickets for the event.
Will disperse 10 tickets into envelopes and give to all athletes approximately 1 month in advance.
Will use donation letter to solicit donations from local businesses for supplies and drink/snacks for athletes.
Will formulate or adjust letter to attach with tickets including incentives for selling 10 and 20 tickets.
Restaurant Fundraisers (Year Round) - Marci Tomajko and Jen Sloane
Coordinate with local restaurants (Five Guys, Chipotle, etc.) for a Hoover Soccer Night.
Normally, a % of the sales comes back to the Booster Club.
Create flyers to distribute across social media platforms, within the schools, and at concessions.
Senior Yard Banners (Girls) -Molly White (Boys) -Brandi Heffelfinger
Junior Moms make signs for every senior player.
Place in senior yard before first game of the season.
Purchases white muslin for each sign needed Purchases orange, black and gold spray paint.
Submits receipts to Booster Treasurer for reimbursement.
Verify stake numbers and purchase if need be.
Senior Representative (Girls) - Molly White (Boys) - Laura Jones and Heather Ash
This person(s) will be responsible for working with Senior players for their warm up songs, coordinates with spirit wear chair for warm-ups.
Senior rep needs to collect Senior Bios by first week of August. A sample bio form can be given to each player. All of this is then given to Coach Bodenschatz for program.
Senior parents coordinate the all boys teams feeds/meals with other senior parents before most weekend home games.
Senior parents coordinate meals for Adidas Tournament and Alliance Tournament (existing sign-up genius template already available).
Youth Nights - Lauren Connors, Heather Ash
This person(s) will coordinate the multiple Youth Soccer groups that feed into Hoover High School.
Sample emails will be provided for North Canton Soccer Club, Akron Canton United, Community Soccer.
Make a flyer and put on Schoology, Facebook, Instagram.
Each youth player will be introduced with their club jersey, name and club at halftime.
Stand with Varsity player for national anthem.
Senior Night (Girls) Molly White (Boys) - VACANT
Junior parents coordinate this night.
Coaches decide which home game will be Senior Night.
Player Moms are presented with corsages and players receive carnations (typically $800 budget, verify with Booster Treasurer before planning).
Coordinates post-game reception [Local businesses can be asked for food donations, pizzas have been ordered before].
Coordinate the parents arrive early to take pictures by goals, then line up in front of grand stand for introductions.
Bios are read and parents/senior player walk across field and line up, players then go back to bench to start game.
Senior parents get a memory gift - picture with frames have been done in the past.
Coordinate a Photographer for the evening.
Encourage JV Orange and JV White players and all Girl teams to attend senior night.
Teacher Appreciation Night (Girls) - Molly White (Boys) - Tina Bell
Coordinate with coaches to determine game where teachers can be honored
Varsity players are allowed to invite 2 teachers each
Teacher invites are sent out. Try to get representation from each player. Will need to avoid duplicates.
Teachers form pregame tunnel for players to walk through.
Carnations are ordered for each teacher participating.
Away Game Meals (Girls) - Erin Leuenberger (Boys) - Laura and Mike Mead
This person(s) will coordinate away game meals for varsity and all JV teams.
Establish relationship with Jimmy Johns or Subway on Cleveland Avenue in North Canton.
Updates Order Form with options, contact information and cost and emails via booster email to all JV and Varsity parents when teams are announced.
Collects funds from players wanting to participate.
Coordinates with Jimmy Johns for the order and payment.
Requires the pick up of meals and deliver to buses prior to departure for away games.
For JV Orange: If away game is at same time/location as JV White or Varsity discuss away meals with Coach Bodenschatz.
Boys Preseason Tournament Committee (April-June) - Mike Connors & Lauren Connors, Coach Zahn, Tiffany & John Reidinger
Work with the Boys' coaching staff to coordinate preseason tournament to be held on North Canton school property at end of July.
Coordinate various aspects including pre-tournament coordination (NCCS, referees, concession sales, etc.) and day-of coordination (field marshals, weather related issues, parking, etc.).
Alumni Game - Tallie Paz
Coordinate with Coach Zahn the annual Hoover Soccer Alumni game, typically held towards the beginning of August
Determine alumni to be contacted
Arrange sign up for players and coordinate t-shirt orders
Coordinate and possibly operate concessions for event
The North Canton Soccer Boosters are always looking for ways to raise funds for our programs. If you have an idea, or would like to help out on one of our committees, feel free to speak with one of our Executive Board Members or current committee members.
It might take a village to raise a child, but it takes a whole community to support a soccer team!
